I wonder, what is the smallest animal in the world?

The world is fulled with many different types of animals. All different sizes, shapes, big, small, short, tall, etc. The smallest animal known to exist is the Etruscan Shrew. The Etruscan Shrew is also known as the white-toothed pygmy shrew. The Etruscan is the smallest know mammal by mass, weighing only about 1.8 grams, body length of about 4 centimeters including the tail. A Etruscan has a fast metabolism, eating about 1.5-2 times its body weight per day. Etruscan Shrew Mostly relies on it's sense of  touch than vision.

I wonder what is the water cycle is?

The water cycle is the process of evaporation. The water cycle is the movement of water through the oceans atmosphere, land, and living things. The water cycle is powered by the energy from the sun. For the water cycle to work, water has to get form the Earth's surface back up into the skies so that it can rain back down. Evaporation changes liquids and frozen water in to water-vapor gas. This gas (which is not harmful) then floats up into skies to become clouds. The water cycle repeats over and over again.

Fact: Did you know that each water molecule has probably been around for billions of years. That's because Earth's water is constantly recycled.

Balancing toy

Balancing toy

For the past term 3&4 we have had an opportunity to attend metal tech. My class 9 AK has been working on making a balancing toy. We had 3 lessons, 3 hours each week to complete our balancing toy. We recorded our progress on our individuals diary's, which we created on google slides. These diary's helped us keep track of our work. Making a balancing toy was very interesting and fun, the process of making it was a great experience. I would enjoy making more projects to do with metal in the near future.

Did I finish my balancing toy? If not why?

Unfortunately I didn't finish. Due to absents, this means I didn't have as much time as I need to finish it. We also had lessons where the s teacher was absent, sick, in a meeting, teachers only day, and assembly's.

What did I enjoy about it?

I enjoyed the experience I got to learn about metal. Using all the different types of machines was fun and interesting to see how they work. I also enjoyed that I gained some more knowledge about tools, machines, metal, and what its like to work in a workshop environment.

What did I learn?

During term 3 and a bit of term 4, I learn how to be safe in a workshop, how to use many different tools and machines, how a work environment should look, see, and feel like, and how to make a balance toy out of metal, although I didn't finish. This opportunity I had was an overall learnt curve, I made mistakes, got frustrated, but I learnt just to move on and start over, because you can't make something perfect unless you fail a little and keep trying.

What did I find was a challenge? How did I over come it?

What I found a bit difficult/challenging was drilling. I found drilling difficult because sometimes the drill wouldn't go down in to my metal, it was hard to make sure that the drill press went to where I center punched it. I was a bot scared of it at first because to me it looked like a big scary looking machine. When it was my turn to drill I was a bit hesitant as I did not want to drill, muck up my work, or get hurt. But after seeing other people do it and how essay it looked, I become more familiar and conferrable with using it.

Did I weld?

Yes I did weld. I thought welding was fun but scary at the same time. Seeing the flame being lit gave me a fright, it just burst out with heat and an orange red color. It was an awesome experiment to weld, I learn how its done and how to be safe. There also was an fashionably outfit as well when welding.

Unfortunately I do not have any photos to display how I was welding, due to tablets being flat.

What did I get better at?

I think that I got better at a lot of things but I guess I mainly got better at listening. I can get a bit off track and get distracted but in metal tech I think I listen better, as I was in an environment where listening is key. Listening was a key skill to have because you needed it to listen about how to be safe, how to use the machines, where equipment and materials were, and to listen to the teacher. Overall I think I hot better at many things.

Math - Awesome cool 3D prototype of our product.

Pineapple fava beans

What's pooping guys, it's Nia here with another blog. In this blog post, I am going to be showering you the slideshow that my group and I collaborated on together. Plus I will be telling you what we did and how we achieve it.

For the past few weeks, we have been learning about finance and business in maths class. This is preparing us for our b&e which means business and enterprise.

Our teacher gave us a piece of paper with all these different challenges on it. My group and I had to pick one challenge to research about. We had to produce a prototype and present it in front of the class.

In my pretention, it tells you what we had to do, what our challenge and our prototype.

Here is our slideshow with our awesome 3D prototype.

My group and I worked really hard on this.

For our presentation, my group an I used google slideshow to present what we were doing. Google slideshow is a great way to present, display and show your learning. But if you wanted to be more creative there are many more apps/website you could use.

For our prototype, we used a website called Tinkercad, this website lets you produce and make your own 3D models. We used this app because we believed that this was the best way that we could show others our prototype. It's easy to use and you can make all different designs and models on it.
(I was the one that made the pineapple)

The experience/reflection

Overall I think this experience was fun and interesting. It was hard to come up with ideas for our prototype but eventually, we all agreed on what we were going to produce. After a bit of fighting and arguing we come up with one solid idea. I think our outcome was great although there was a lot of pissing around.

Our presentation went well however, I didn't like talking in front of the class as I am not that confident. But my group made it less stressful to talk in front of the class because they all were supporting me and we were supporting each other. I find it quite hard when I have to talk in front of the class or anyone in general. I'm glad that when we were presenting, my class didn't laugh or talk while my group and I was presenting. That showed me that we were respected and being listened to.

What did I gain from this experience?

From this experience, I gained knowledge about fava beans, how to use Tinkercad to make our prototype and I also learnt how to be a little bit more confident. It was fun and my group and worked really well together.

Please leave a comment down below on how you think my group's presentation and prototype was. Also, anything that I could improve on or make better.

Thanks for reading, enjoy your day

Maori Ta Moko tattoos

Here is my groups video on Maori Ta Moko tattoos

Did I enjoy making this?

If I'm being honest, I didn't enjoy making this. I think that I do better present it in front of the class.

I think this experience was fun but annoying because of my group and I would always be laughing when recording. Also, it took 2 whole lessons to make.

Overall I prefer presenting in front of the class.

Reflection from Friday

On Friday Taiaun and I made cheese scones. Overall I think everything went well. We worked together good, we shared the roles with each other, we both did the dishes and we communicated with each other to make sure that everything went well. But I think we could have improved by being more patient because we were in a rush to go to lunch. We were so impatient that our scones come out undercooked and doughy. If we had left them in for just a few more minutes they would have been cooked and more enjoyable. Form this lesson I learnt how to rub the butter in with the flour, salt and baking powder I also learnt that I need to be more patients when baking.

3 cups plain flour
6 teaspoons Baking Powder

Jingle

What are we working on this term in 9Ak music

This term in music, my self and my class are producing a jingle. We have to make up lyrics, make up a beat, record the jingle, makeup choreography, film the video for jingle and make it creative.

What is my job?

My job will be to film the jingle as well as be in the video.

How will you ensure that we are successful?

I will make sure my self and my classmates get all their jobs done and produce an amazing jingle for everyone to enjoy. My self and my class will l make sure that we get everything done by a certain date.

What am I learning?

I am learning the process/steps of how to make a catchy jingle.

How does this show my learning?

It is showing my learning by having a set task to complete that will help put the jingle together.

What am I wondering?

I am wondering how the end product will turn out.

Designing a safety sign

In tec, we had to make a safety sign that is not already in the workshop. We had to provide a creative but effective sign to aware people what/not to do.

My sign means. don't enter the workshop unless you are allowed. I did this sign because I didn't see it around in the workshop and I think it's important to know not to go in the workshop unsupervised. This sign is not only to spread caution but for your own health and safety.
